With 75% of Congolese people living off less than $2.15 per day, families often prioritize educating their sons, leaving young girls exposed to early marriage, hard labor, and disadvantaged situations.First opening its doors in 2011, the Malaika School has provided free STEM-based education to over 430 young girls, with the second group of seniors graduating this May.
Malaika translates to ‘Angel’ in the native language of Swahili.
